A Message to Our Students and Community
For many years, the Alaska School of Ministry [AKSOM] has been a place of growth, learning, and transformation for countless students across Alaska. It has been a privilege to walk alongside so many on their educational and spiritual journeys, and we are deeply grateful for every student, instructor, and leader who made this school what it was.
In recent years, however, AKSOM has experienced various challenges resulting in decline. There have been many technological and cultural shifts, and more recently, there has been a significant turnover of key leadership and instructors. Therefore, recognizing that a change was needed, Network leadership made the tough decision to taper down AKSOM classes and suspend the school’s operation effective December 31, 2025.
We do not take this lightly, and our heart for your education and growth remains unchanged. In the meantime, we have developed connections with four outstanding alternative institutions that we wholeheartedly recommend to both prospective and current students:
- Lead School of Ministry (LeadSOM) — New York Ministry Network
- Pathway — Northern California/Nevada Ministry Network
- Arizona School of Ministry (ASOM) — Arizona Ministry Network
- Berean School of the Bible — Global University
Each of these institutions shares a commitment to quality education and ministry development, and we are confident they can serve you well on your journey to complete the required classes for each level of credentialing. Students are able to select the opportunity that works best for their learning style, interests and schedule. The AKMN office will do their best with the help of these institutions, to stay connected with the Alaskan students as they make progress in their educational pursuits.
Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and grace during this season. You remain in our hearts, and we look forward to what the future holds.
